monsterdog, I actually just helped a coworker of mine install the basslink T in her Sante Fe a couple days ago (nitemare of a SUV to work on). It is a really nice sounding setup with plenty of controls. We also put in some 6.5" infinity reference speaks all around which gave it a good balance across the entire frequency range. She is still in the process of breaking it in so I don't know what it sounds like when fully cranked up yet.

As far as fitting in the 944, I believe the basslink T is too tall to be fitted to the back of the rear seats. You would probably be able to lie it down in the rear, but it might be too long to fit right behind the rear seats and may take up more space than you would want if moved further back (I am just guessing as I havent measure it but this is my impression). I am guessing the regular basslink would also be too tall to be set vertically behind the rear seat, but you would definately be able to lie it down almost anywhere you want in back. I personally feel it is a really good deal if you don't want an insane amount of bass but like a good clean well balanced sound.

I think I may give the regular basslink a try in the spare tire well, got to measure first. I've slowly replaced all the factory speakers and some dealer ancient and poorly wired upgrades. I've got 4x6 polks and 6.5 polks in the front and rear (back seat/shelf area), and infinity 6x9's over the side wells in the hatch. The fronts are running off the head unit and the other four are running off of an ancient but sweet-sounding ADS amp in the back. I ditched the factory blaupunkt, and I've learned to deal with the shiny lights. I only wish they made new radios with non-flashy incandescent light bulbs. Oddly enough, the original setup had a tiny external alpine amp driving the front speakers wired into the rear driver's well next to the ADS, and it was wrapped in a piece of chamois cloth. When I pulled it out, it was a nasty lump of corroded leathery stuff, (plugged drain holes in the wells) with wires squirreling every which way. Probably why nothing worked. There were square-ish ADS speakers in the hatch as well, but they were all nasty and non-functioning too. My ipod is hooked up to the stereo now, and attaches conveniently to the old cellphone bracket on the side of the console with some velcro. That old cellphone stuff was hilarious to pull out. The electronics unit weighed something like 20 pounds, and was locked into a steel box and mounting frame right in front of the collasible spare. I eventually used a crowbar and had to beat the crap out of it to get it out. It was very satisfying, kind of like taking a sledgehammer to the windshield of a pain in the arse mercedes 280se4.5 I used to have. Happy memories.

Try "ghetophiles".
I would have to disagree with you... i dont know how much you listen to music... espically with 4x6 and a small budget; a single 10" sub with a do-it-yourself attitude can acomplish an amazing change in sound and quality. "ghetophile'' to you audiophile to me...

Thanks livewirevoodoo. Yeah I've already got a couple of bolts installed in the rear hatch area in the floor above the fuel tank. I think they were factory installed for baby seats, but I'm not entirely sure. I was planning on screwing down the sub box to a 3/4" thick piece of MDF and then bolting down the MDF using the pre-existing bolts for the child restraints (as these are set wider apart than the width of the sub box).

Any ideas on where I could hide the amp?

951 Sleeper theres plenty of room in the cubby holes for a nice amp to power the woofer.
