Wilks Powerprom, Wow!
Greetings all,
I don't post much but this forum and all of you have been invaluable to me in keeping my N/A alive and well. Can't thank you enough! When FRWilk posted that he was discontinuing his Powerprom for the early N/A's I realized I needed to quit thinking about it and get one while I still could. Well it showed up Friday with the board ready to install. After reading the instructions 47 times (can't be too prepared) I donned my ESD strap (provided by Mr. Wilk) and went to work. Little bit of work but very straightforward and doable. Upon installation the difference was immediately noticable. I thought my 84 was pretty peppy before but had no idea how much the stock chip was holding her back! The power and acceleration is like never before. Strong and smooth through the entire rpm range. Gone is the surge at 3800, it's there ALL the time! The sluggishness at start/low rpm is gone and the tach climbs like I have never seen! It even shifts better. It really is like I'm driving a completely different car! I am SO glad I took the plunge! If your still contemplating, don't! Thank you FR for a great product! "The Pooch" has been "Wilk'd!" Best Regards to all, Pat

good for you, airdale. i'm not sure if you have the dual chip package, but if you do, give it a month or two, then switch back to standard and see the difference. i guess not all cars are in the same state of tune/condition, but for my application, the difference was night and day. i noticed the same effects that you have. below 3.5k, not much happening, then you hit the torque spread between 3.5, and it goes away at 5.5k. i have found that the engine pulls strongly from 1800rpm, right up to the raised limit of 7k, with no hiccups. just smooth power, growing all the way. now you will find, that 5th gear, is more viable, as your car will actually pull very well, even from as low a speed as 50mph. this chip really is the best bang for your buck, i feel.
congrats, and enjoy! bob.

Thanks Bigyagi, I didn't get the dual chip setup only because of $ right now but that would probably be the best setup. I got a spare DME on e-bay awhile back so if I ever needed to switch back, it's a 5 minute swap. I'm in the Orlando area now and have about an hour drive to work each night. I can hardly wait! It's been awhile since I've been this excited about driving to work! And you are absolutely right, there is no better investment in a performance upgrade than Wilk's chip!
