Did you get the diagrams for the belts and gears? One shows locations and another shows alignment of the balance shaft pulleys. Make sure your not putting crappy bearing back on and I hope your changing all your seals/O rings.

The shouldered nut is torqued against the oil pump.

When I do that, the pulley rubs against the plastic cover. I noticed in some other pics the cover is cut out, do I need to do that?

i have had to cut the back of the covers before so it would not rub. You could put a washer on the shouldered nut to space it out, but be sure to check the position on the pulleys after you have rotated the engine several times.

Ok, now it makes more sense to me. I'll cut the cover, then try to align the crank pulley and the tensioner pulley, and see how it works then.

I have the diagram for timing the balance shafts, are there others I need to see?

It seems this was not assembled correctly before, that may have contributed to the failure...

I appreciate the help!
