Adjusting the Throttle Position Sensor on a 951

The TPS on my new-to-me 951 is a little hypersensitve with the "throttle closed" part of it. It takes almost nothing to "un-trigger" that particular part of the sensor and the ECU only reads full throttle closure about 50% of the time when I take my foot off the gas. I've been noticing this at stoplights where the engine will "hang" at about 2,000 RPM with the clutch disengaged.

I checked unter the hood and behind the pedals, the throttle cable is _not_ binding. With the engine off, I can hear the little "click" sound of the throttle-closed sensor if I even touch the throttle cam. It's way to sensitive on tip-in and I need to back it off just a hair. I know where it's located, but I don't know which way to rotate it.

Aaron

edit - oh i just saw you need to know which way to rotate it.. Not sure on that one, but maybe adjusting it by those instructions will help?

Yield, looked there already. Definitely appreciate the effort though.

Looking at things again, I think I may be over-thinking this one. The throttle cable is very taut even at full closure. I may just have to back that off a little instead. Seem to have made it harder than it needs to be by looking at the TPS first. I'm going to go adjust it and then report back.

So does my '89 N/A. Actually, every other car I've driven has had a decent amount of slack when at idle now that I think about it...

I guess it's one of those things that's so obvious I missed it.

Garage
The cable sheathing termination at the firewall to the left of the brake booster can get pulled out and get hanged up. It is somewhat hidden from plain view. Check that one first.

Ditto on the slack near the throttle cam on my 951. Mine hangs at 1200 sometimes, I'm guessing it's an vac leak though.

Problem solved. Definitely was the throttle cable.
