spark plug wires
found a set of plug wires from performance products. They are jacobs brand for $55. Most of the others I see are anywhere from $100-$250. Has anybody used the jacobs wires and are they any good?

I had the Jacobs ones for a little while, and ended up replacing them within two years or so. The connectors just weren't up to snuff and wore out quickly.

No prob for-ever. Some swear by other brands$$$ w/ the built in intelligent beru ends. I went w/ the 8.5 mm magnacores but if you read the magnacore literature the 8.0 mm would probably work also and they are only like 40 bucks. The 8.5 mm can supposedly handle modified high voltage ignition systems designed for racing (whatever that means).
The magnacores work for me and you can't beat the price. Call me a cheap bastard if it helps justify $ 189.00 ignition wires. MW |

I replace the wires on the stock set for less than $12 and a hours or so bit of work.

Many think the larger OD is better. Actually the stranded wires in an 8mm OD and a 10mm OD are the same 16 gauge. I also have no idea why someone would put up with the lousy fit on the spark plugs for some (most???) of the aftermarket sets.

I just can't see why the majority of people would'nt want to go this route. Preformance issues? Other than the racers and highly modded cars that are actually at the point of really "dialing in" their cars, I can't believe it would be worth it. Heck most of us are just trying to get our cars to run "right" anyway. Why spend more money on it in this area, and take away from other, maybe more/just as important expenditures?
Wouldn't be a "ricer" or image thing would it?........naw...........couldn't be. ![]()

where do you get the kingsborne wires, and are they decent qaulity. I just use the car as a daily driver so the wires dont need to be high performance.

www.kingsborne.com
Get just the wires with the ends crimped on them. The "ends" are threaded to screw into the connectors.

I am trying to decide between just the wires from kingsborne or a whole set of 8.0 mm wires from apex. One of the boots going to the distributor cap has a tear in it, and the connectors in the boots look like they have seen better days. So I would be money and time ahead just to spend an extra $35 or so to get a whole new wire set. Thanks for all the info everybody.
