944S running--sort of

Changed FPR --car ran the same-- wouldn't idle
Cleaned connector for Motronic computer--car wouldn't even start (?)
Changed Motronic computer for one from a 944S2--car runs fine!
What are the differences in the S2 brain??
BTW the original brain had gotten wet ( leaky battery tray) and I have dried it out a couple of times-- always ran fine . Now , I can't
trust it at all.
Guess I'll have to source a new or used one-- do they have an
expected life span? The last thing I want is a car I can trust to start.

Boy, that blows. New DME's are very expensive (well over $1000, I think). I seem to remember reading about people opening the DME's cleaning them up and resoldering many of the connections - search around. Or find a used one, hopefully.

Good luck.
