That's a very interesting-looking car you have there, Rick.

AFAIK, it would be more difficult to shoe-horn a 968 motor into a 944 n/a body.

You will even have some difficulties with the S2 motor - I believe that the speedo sender unit thingy changed, and is related to different front spindles.

Honestly, if you can find a 944 n/a motor in decent shape, that would be your best bet as a replacement motor.

-Z-man.

PS: Nice color, but I'm not sure I understand the rest of the body mods on your car..

I think i saw that car on ebay maybe?

ANyway i think there is a difficulty with fitting the brake master cylinder when you put the 968 engine in the 944. Not sure though, something about the intake manifold.

A friend of mine just bought a 924s from a fellow clubmember who shoehorned a 968 motor into it. Has tracked it many times and kicked arse at the PCA hillclimbs last year. 250hp in a 924 chassis was unbelievable to drive.

Makes me really eager to do the turbo transplant into the 87...

There recently was a guy on Rennlist who was doing a swap -- he eventually figured it out and got around the brake master. The biggest problems are going to be 1) what to do with the air filter (you can use a cone filter) 2) getting a right flywheel (an S2 flywheel will work) and 3) DME -- the electronics are a PITA. Head over to Rennlist and do a search -- there are close to half a dozen active members who stuffed a 968 motor into a 944. A general rule of thumb: earlier the body, more involved the swap.

IIRC, the whole thing with the speedo is only an issue if you do a 968 tranny swap -- but we're just talking about the motor right? If you do go this route, you will have to think about upgrading other parts like the tranny. The 944na tranny is prone to grenading.

It can be done.....but it's going to cost a whole ton of money. But if you're up for that....I say go fot it.

You will also have to fabricate many connections etc. I know the tach sensor will not connect, as well as many other things. Again, if you're up for the challenge.....go for it and make us all jealous!!

Yes, this porsche was on eBay, that is where I found it and bought it. Drove over 650 miles one way to get this car. Two days to get the car back to Palm Beach, FL.
FYI I did make a deal in buying the 90 Porsche 944S2 3.0L Engine. I will be doing the eng. swap from 2.5L to 3.0L. Please wish me good luck. As I'm a first timer for porsche and now I'm doing (well paying someone esle to do the engine installation) for me.
The 3.0L engine from 944 S2 is costing me a $2,200 + S&H...
Hey I heard that the Porsche's 3.0L is that largest 4 Cyl engine ever made? Is this True?
More FYI...
I come from the Acura Vigor 2.5L and Legends 3.2L of the car world.
Well this Porsche of my will be very costly and much fun for my weekends. Please do add your input, as You guys are the porsche GODs.
Please provide advice for a beginner young blood like me.
Thanks Everything.
Rick

doesn't really look like a "kit"... just looks like someone went insanely happy with some steel snips and some fibre air ducts....

Best of luck with your swap. Matt, the young fella at the S3 site completed this swap with very little trouble. I think there is some personal contact data on one of his sites. Searching Reenlist is a good idea too. I think you are over the hard part, you have acquired a 3.0 with all the extras from a reputable outfit that includes a warranty . Keep us posted, n getterdone!
