Checking alternator current?

Anyone have an idea on how I can check my alternator current? I don't think my multi-meter is going to cut it:-P

I cleaned and put new brushes in the V-reg and put a new battery in, and I still don't think I am getting the proper amount of voltage. I am thinking that perhaps the shop that rebuild my alternator didn't build it with enough amperage.

To check voltage put a meter on the battery start the car and run it up to about 2500RPM, voltage should be around 14V. To check the current you will need to place an amperage meter in on the positive cable so it should go cable, meter, and then battery and then once again run the engine up to 2500RPM and see what it throws. The easiest way to do these things is to goto an autoparts store and just have them perform the check, they have a machine to do it.
