Diff Fluid for Automatic

Does anyone know where the drain plug and fill for the rear diff is on a 924S or 944 Automatic????
The manual states there should be one but does not say or show where it is or what type of fluid??
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

Marcel

it is rear, driverside of the car, located on the tranny case. I believe it is either a 17mm or 21mm hex head used to gain access.

There is only a fill hole, no drain hole. Fluid must be pumped out to be refilled. I believe the spec calls for gear oil, 75-90W.

The reservoir is ONLY for the automatic trans, not for the diff. The diff oil is seperated. If there is diff oil in the trans or tran oil in the diff, the oil seals in the main shaft have failed and the trans needs resealing.

Diff Fluid for Automatic

So does this mean you fill until it runs out?
Thanks again.

Capacity is 1 liter. Rule of thumb is if you stick your finger in the hole you should be able to feel the gear oil without having to really reach for it.

When I first purchased car and did the diff. fluid, it was so dirty it was like mud. Took forever to pump it out, and I was sure i didnt get it all. So I filled to capacity, drove for a week, redrained (much easier to do this time) and refilled with fresh fluid. Car felt much more agile.

Wow. The drive thru place checked the differential fluid?

If the diff fluid is gone then the seals are leaking and it ran into the trans...common problem and fixable. Of course, this assumes that the levels were checked correctly and some sort fo diagnosis was done to see where the fluid went. Fluid doesn't just go and yet another reason to work with shops with PORSCHE experience.
