Arrow Engine Trouble PLEASE HELP!

I have never had anything serious happen with my engine, but I think I am about to have my first episode. I have a early 85 NA. I was driving on the highway last night. Suddenly, my car did a fast jerk, like the engine cut out. It did it a couple other times in about 15 minute intervals. The RMP did not jerk when it happened. I changed oil and spark plugs last week. They also tried to do my rear diff fluid but that did not happen. It seems to only do it around 2500-3000 RMP. I also recently put a few peices of audio/video stuff in, so mabey that helps. Please Help

First of all, check all the maintenance items, plugs, cap, rotor arm, fuel filter etc.. Check all the connections, especially around where the stereo was installed. Check the fuel pump relay and if more than five years old, replace it (it's date stamped). Road test it again and see what happens.

Check the airflow meter connection, some oxide in the socket can cause jerking. A friends saab 900 -89 had some strange things going on, it could suddenly lose power and die. After starting it again everything was fine for some time. (from minutes to days) We cleaned the MAF connection and sprayed on some 5-56 and that solved the problem. Your airflow meter can also start to get worn out and develop dead spots. Check the link for more info http://w1.132.telia.com/~u13204456/motronic.htm

I agree with the previous and much more knowledgeable posts...Sounds electrical and possibly fuel related...

Britwrench...It is very apparent you have considerable experience with the watercoolers...Can I ask what model you are driving...just curious...

Mike, I drive a 1985 .5 944, had it about 3.5 years and it's done a lot of miles (odometer hasn't worked for, well 3.5 years) and because I work in a auto shop you can guess how much maintenance I do on it........We specialise on water cooled cars so we tend to understnd what breaks and why. I leave all the answers on performance and upgrades to other who know much more.
