Random questions

Question 1: Anybody ever have the "fresh air" blower run as soon as the car is turned to the "on" position? I can run the fan switch through all of its positions, and it just wont turn off. It's as if the switch is always stuck on the "1" position?

Question 2: I just replaced the drivers side stub axle on a friends 84 44, when I removed the old one, I found that at some point someone left a broken CV bolt in the "Flange Shaft" on the transaxle. I ended up having to pull said piece to try to easy-out the broken off bolt. No luck, the bugger is truely stuck in there! Because of the bolt size, it of course is not possible to drill and over-tap the hole. Long story short, anyone know where to order this flange?

Thanks for any info.

Question 1 - I was thinking that an owners manual will solve my problem. My 86 is identical. Always blows. I'll keep you posted and let you know what the manual says.

Question 2 - good luck. Sorry no advice hear.

The blower on mine doesn't run at all positions. But if the car is moving at all you will get airflow through the vents.

Two things happen to the air blower. The switch in the console overheats and warps sometimes locking the blower on and/or the balast resistor shorts out only leaving one speed. Note that the blower is always on at a low speed. This is to keep the fumies from the exhaust out.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

When mine did that, it was the ballast resistor. Never seen the console overheat problem, but SoCal knows a lot more about these cars than I do.

You had a Delorean, eh? This was the first car that ever caught my interest, when I was a kid...

Yea, it was a beautiful car, but a real pain in the @ss to work on! Granted it came factory with a buick V6, but it had hoses that ran all the way to the front of the car to the radiator not unlike a Lotus Europa. (The lotus is another headache all together, I restored a '74 for my dad many years back)

Anyway, I managed to keep the house, and the P cars, the ex got the DeLorean, most of the funiture, and all her credit cards paid off! Then to add insult to injury I talked to her brother about 2 years after the divorce and found that she parked it in a barn to die... 4 flat tires, pigeon crap, coons, mice in the electricals.... (sigh....)

Nick,

On the other part, try these places....

Brims (Ohio) 800-221-3874
Oklahoma Foreign 800-462-2446
Fresno Silver star 559-268-7300
All import auto 817-831-6316

Not sure if they will have anything or not, but give them a try. Is there enough room to drill the old bolt out and replace the threads with a helicoil or a threaded insert? I think I would try that first.
