Restart after engine out?
I'm still a couple of days from getting this running again, but I'll forget to ask before it's too late.
When reinstalling the engine what is the proper starting procedure?

1) Position friend with fire extuinguisher pointed at open hood.
2) Turn key. No idea. I'd think you'd want to leave the key in the accessory position for a minute to load the fuel rail with gas.

For sure I'd disconnect the coil wire and crank it till I had really good oil pressure.

You crack me up Legion.....
Here is what I would do. 1. Disconnect the reference sensor ...this shuts off ignition and fuel injectors (another stolen tip from SoCal) 2. Prime the oil pump by pouring oil down the center hole of oil filter 3. Pull spark plugs and put small amount of oil in each cylinder 4. Crank engine over until you see oil pressure 5. Undo what you just did and after it starts grab yellow tool from tool storage. ![]()

I just pull the dme relay and prime the oil pump........
Crank ....... crank and crank...... It can take quite a while before you see oil pressure registering...... adding oil like Razor mentioned #2 definitely helps.... 5-10 second bursts for me usually does it. Once you have oil pressure......... plug the dme relay back in.

If the Valve cover is off, pouring a little Engine oil on the lifters and cam can easy friction at bit before the oil gets flowing.

Engine had sat for almost four years. Pulled the plugs and the coil wire. Cranked for less than 20 seconds to get three bars of oil pressure.
Was easier to pull the coil to dist wire than to pull the connector on the sensor or the DME relay.
