No Cat, need 2 use an O2 sensor?
Any need for the sensor running race pipes and no cat? My car seems to run better disconnected or my drugs are really working well.

The O2 sensor gives essential feedback to your engine management about the state of your combustion. I think the management system will go to a sort of backup scheme when the O2 sensor is lost, so it will run fine, but not as efficient or clean as it should.
Now, with racing clean or efficient isn't really the sort of quality you're looking for in an engine. What most people seem to do when they take one of these cars racing is installing a wideband O2 sensor to get a more precise reading and with that reading being able to make very precise adjustments to the amount of injected fuel, resulting in a more efficient engine, powerwise. Yep arne I am aware of the DME going to a richer mixture( open loop) once up to full temperature. Was a bit too lean so I disconnected it to gain a richer mixture, plugs are not as platinum white as prior, now getting more of a cream color which is good. Does appear that the mileage has dropped but expected that.
O2 is before the cat anyway so I think my question is null. Dal

Wasn't worried just curious if it was needed w/no cat. Did recall the lack of need for the O2 after it was mentioned.
