So it's an electric turbo?

Not just a centrifugal supercharger?

Yeah, that's a supercharger.

I don't know where that thing would fit on a 944. You remove the cooling shroud and probably still wouldn't have the room to place the supercharger (nowhere to mount it?).

Also, I'd imagine Porsche did research as to how much tension the alternator belt needs in order to turn the alternator only. This set up would probably put more strain on the alternator "shaft" and the alternator belt.

Anyways, after you do all the R&D and manufacturing, you'll probably find that you were better off just buying a 951 both for performance (hp gain?) and costs (not only mounting, but also rerouting the intake) compared to the supercharger.

That is Def. a SC not a turbo as many have said, I dont think that type of setup will fit on a 944/924S. Now you can run a SC on a 944 and there are many ways to do it

I received a few emails from the guy selling them....He says they will fit the 944.....the SC will be rotated up and be above the alternator....the air box has to be removed of course....I'm still not sure how boost can be controlled...

Iff'n that would work without having to do a TON of fabrication for the intake... Well, you'd need a new DME chip to accommodate the addon, of course. That belt for the Alternator and A/C compressor is already pretty strained. Then to drive your supercharger off of the alternator... I don't know.

wow, i'm proud of myself that i could recognize his work just by a pic like that.. lol

I'd steer clear of that seller..
he was very informative... but there is a member on this board who has been waiting for MONTHS for his piece of equipment to come in...

not saying he'll never deliver.. just saying if you want it any time soon, i'd make sure he has it in stock first and ready to ship..

Delete A/C and run it off that belt. Seems like it could work, if theres enough room. What would you do with air fuel mixure under boost? What about a power harness? I would love to supercharge my car.

Supercharger

That's the one I paid $3295 for the entire kit up front for on Feb 6, 06 and am still waiting to receive. I have pretty much heard every excuse I can think of but still no product. I have now been assured I will have it by July 17. I also was assured 4-15, 4-30, 5-15, 5-30, 6-15, 7-1...be very careful before sending money. PM me if you need details or a "reference".

it's snakeoil anyway. there is no way that this tiny little compressor, geared off a relatively low rpm acessory, will turn fast enough to provide anything other than a restriction to the normal airflow

From what I understand in his old post, The SC has a gear box to change the ratio. Any centrifical type SC is easy to use once you have the correct gear raios to run it.

I purchased a complete kit that West was going to trial fit on his own 84. In theory the thing should be killer. I really hope it comes to fruition. The concept of retaining A/C and Power Steering is key to me. If I don't get it I will be deleting the Power Steering to switch sides w/ the A/C, going to a manual rack, and getting a Speedforce kit. I really don't want to be out an extra $5K plus what I have already spent. I totally bought into the concept with lengthly emails and phone conversations. I am just really apprehensive as I have found too many weird transactions from too many people.
