Turn Signals won't turn off automatically

I can't find anything in the manual or on here, my turn signals work, but don't turn off after the corner. Is it a small plastic peice like on US cars that needs replacing (if so, what's it called), or do I have to replace the whole arm?

There are some springs and plastic parts in there which are toggled by a shaft finger. Probably something plastic is broken. Clarks garage has the write up and Paragon sell the switch for under around $80 or junk yard.

You could always take it apart and see if it could be super glued or somthing.

Usually what I've seen happen is that the "finger" on the steering wheel gets worn and doesn't work all the time. I know that the "finger" on mine doesn't always trigger the turn-signal shut-off. Not much that can be done about that.

Remove your horn pad - pull gently up on it till it comes free, then disconnect the horn wire. Get yourself a 24mm socket (if I remember correctly) and a long extension and remove the nut holding the steering wheel on. Pull the wheel towards you and it should slide right off the shaft. You may wanna mark its location before you do this, but I just set the wheels straight and replace the steering wheel straight. Once you've got the wheel off, have a look at the back of it. Screwed to the back you'll find a plastic ring with the tab on it that cancels the turn signal. It's held in place by three screws. If it's broken it's an easy fix - remove screws, replace ring, replace steering wheel. Torque big nut to 30 ft/lbs (better check me here). Don't forget the horn wire. If you get that far into it, you'll be able to see the turn signal switch's innards and whether or not something's broken there.

HTH!

Just for the knowledge base; you 'cancel' turn signals.

other than separating the 1/2's on the old ones, not much to take apart.

if not broken off, wrap the stud with electrical tape to trip the cancelling mechanism.

white tab

what i think most of you guys are missing is most often, the back of the steering wheel that black tab that sticks out is fine, the majority of times, the white tab it is plastic that is the "cancelling" mechanism is supposed to stick out into the path of the black tab and get cancelled out is most often broken or worn off. so stop addressing....tape on the back of the black tab etc.......the real fix is fixing the white plastic tab that is on the lever itself.....i dont how to repair this, it is embeded in the sterring part, but if you can get a replacement either new or used, it should fix the problem........but again taping back of steering tab does NOTHING is your white tab is broken.....

electrical tape?

We all know what electrical tape does when it's subjected to heat like the type we have in car interiors in the sun. It's not meant for repairs, period.
