Installing A/F gauge
I need to install a A/F gauge in my turbo, but I'm not quite sure what is needed.
I went off to lindsey racing and bought an analog display Link -> http://www.lindseyracing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=LR&Product_Code=IM-3731&Category_Code= Here's the description on it - "Analog Display 52mm, 8-18 AFR needle gauge driven by LM-1 analog output. **Requires "Analog Output Cable" Not included** " What else will I need, and what do I do with the other stuff? Thanks guys! -Alex

yea, what you bought was just a display, not a gauge.

nickd, back off.
poz, my guess would be to install it where your stock one is... then again, I'm not sure on that.

What I got so far is I need to put the wideband o2 sensor in between the header and the cat (which is deleted).
I'll see if I can put it as close to the header as possible.

You want to put it just past the down pipe coming from the turbo.
The crossover segment where the stock o2 goes gets too hot. Life expectancy decreased......... but then again I am running two widebands. One in the stock location and one on the down pipe. Long story. But it makes for interesting logs........ guess which one runs 0.5 leaner.

Ah, that did sound harsh - was meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek. Just wanted to let you know that you can get the gauge through Westach much cheaper. Or at least you could when I picked one up years ago.
Zeitronix also makes a nice wideband kit. I've not heard good things about Innovate's customer service, for what it's worth.

Poz, see if you can send that back. I believe the unit I'm going to go with is this:
http://www.plxdevices.com/products_SMAFR.htm The combo unit with the gauge pictured is $269.00 That is pretty reasonable. It also has various logging capabilities. You want to put your wideband O2 just past the downpipe about 8-12 inches in front of the cat or test pipe. Putting the wideband in the stock O2 sensor bung will kill it as stated above, and will also give erratic readings because of the turbulence between the header and turbo. Oh, that was pretty much stated above too. ohwell I'm too lazy to delete... |

O good - Thank you russell, I was really hoping for a sub $300 deal
![]() That's perfect, even has a digital display -- I was just looking at Zeitronix, and it seems they have a close to $300 with a egt also -- Would that be worth my money? Both seem like a good deal. Thanks again guys! -Alex

the Zeitronix deal is well... $400... unless... you dont want the LCD screen... the LCD screen adds 100 bucks to that kit you were looking at.
It's probrably still a good deal... you'd just have to buy all that extra stuff with it... boost sender, EGT sender, screen... well yeah.. go figure. Oh, for EGT's its like 77 bucks for the sending unit... for the boost sender its 109 bucks... if you want it all... $585 dollars minus the boost sending unit its $508 BAHhhhhh decisions... something tells me i'd end up getting a bunch of different sending units and gauges... fudge.
