Installing a 85 944 tranny-problems shifting in 3rd?

Im having difficulty installing a tranny into a 85 944 where 3rd gear is grinding going in or out. It didnt do this in previous car. Can anyone help with what we're doing wrong. Is suposed to be installed to Porsche spec?? Help!!

Check the shift linkage. I haven't had this problem on a Porsche, but have on a Sube before. The bushings were bad in the linkage, and the shift fork wasn't engaging the gear all the way, causing a grinding going into gear.
