944 front fender

Hey guys, first post on this board and hope someone can help with a body work question. Our 86 944 non turbo has some damage to the left front fender and the body shop said since I have a spare fender he would paint to match and I could put it on. The spare fender is on our spare 87 944. I have removed all the bolts I can find, but much of the fender still seems tight. Is this thing spot-welded somewhere. I just replaced the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing and rear main seal and timing belt and water pump After that, this I thought would be a piece of cake. Any help would be welcomed. Blue skies Allen.

There are three hidden inside the wheel well infront of the driver door frame. You will probably have to chip off some of the undercoat to see them. I have a nice picture of it somewhere.. i need to find it though.

Edit - Here we go..

I'm not sure about the 944 but on my 1988 BMW, besides the bolts, there was a lot of gasket type sealant which made my fender feel like it was still bolted on but is was just the goop.

Vern

p.s. Techno-Duck, that's a good shot for all the cannister questions.

yes, the fender liner is held on with about 7 plastic nuts and comes right out. You will have complete access to the cannister after that.

Thanks Thecno Duck for the help with the 3 screws that we could not find. Removing them did the trick!!
Callmethewander, The right fender is not perfect, with a small dent forward of the wheel well. We are thinking of keeping all of our parts car parts in the event the cars owner (my 17 year old son) needs them in the future. BTW we bought the 86 with fender damage, that one was not his mistake. Thanks again for the help. Allen.

You can click on the envelope beside the screen name. Sorry I was slow but the email saying I had a PM went to the junk folder. You should have a PM with the listings.

No problem...happy hunting. You may just want to get a can of spray paint and paint yours. Do it in the kitchen, the people you live with will love that!

can you really match the paint with a can? i'm hoping to get the same color but i think there are more than one gray, although it might not be called that. my '88S is a darker color than my '89 S2 which i think is called gold, i have to look up the paint code.
