Removing windshield
Anyone have any advice or a good write up on how to remove a 944 windshield with an antenna without breaking the glass? Thanks.

Factory manual suggests poking a steel cable through at the bottom corner then pulling the steel cable around the windshield like a saw to cut the glass from the adhesive. Takes two or one with really long arms.

Also found that the warmer the temp the easier, maybe a heat gun can help for this. Plenty of patience, ive got some out and also have cracked some using piano wire.

I think I am going to order a nice little kit from eastwood. I have 4 cars that need windshields removed and it seems like a worthwhile investment. Thanks guys.

Removed a non antenna from my friends '85. It was not as easy as i thought it was going to be. I used a kit from Harbor Freight. Basically a roll of piano wire, two handles (to hold the wire) and a poker to get the wire through the old gasket. Its defenetley a two person job. Remove the upper headliner before you start, or you will very likely rip that when you go past with the wire.
I am lucky the windshield i was removing was already broken, as it required some coaxing with my size 11's pressing on it... ![]()

Yes, it is very difficult to remove one without cracking one.. The wire type tool is probably the best bet .

Well, it takes patience but it can be done. Recently we pulled a windshield from my 83 using wire... the key is to get the right gauge and be patient. Too fast and the wires heat up and break. Too thick and you can't get it through the sealant.
