Is anyone here skilled with the electrical aspect of these cars? I'm clueless when it comes to electrical. Here's the situation. The car was running great and then one day it wouldn't start, it would just crank. Eventually I got it started and this problem seemed to pop up intermittenly. When it ran, the car ran excellent but the problem of not starting kept poping up and I would have to crank it like crazy. I thought at first it was fuel related but I have ruled all of that out. As it stands the car will not start peroid now, it just cranks and I can not get it to spark. It seems sometimes it would spark and now it almost never does. I've checked the coil, wires, plugs and distributor and they all check out ok. The battery is good and the starter is good (for now... untill I burn it out from cranking). Also, my interior lights, clock, radio a under hood light are not working all of a sudden. I checked all of the fuses and they all check out ok. Is there a way to check the relays to see if any of them are bad? Here is another weird thing... even though my coil, wires and distributor check out okay, if I run a jumper to the coil from the battery it still will not start! I am really confused because I'm getting mixed results. Things that should be ruling other things out are not making sense. Anyone live in the area and want to come take a look, I'll buy you a six pack, make you dinner or give you some spare parts... lol. Or if you just have some advice that would be fine too. sounds like fuel pump/filter or DME relay.

Yeah, that's what I suspected at first but I have tested those and ruled them out. The thing is i'm not getting any spark. Could the ignition switch cause this? I didn't think so though because the car is cranking. Could it be one of the reference sensors?

Jumpering the coil to the battery won't solve or test any ignition problems. When you break power to the coil is when the secondary wiring discharges and you get a spark.

Your problems is the speed reference sensors 95% , so check then both clean them or replace them with 2 brand new go ebay each are 75.00 so 150.00 will cure your problem!

Thanks for the tips. I'll give the reference sensors a look. As for the interior lights and radio and such is there a relay for those? Like I said I checked the fuse and it looks good.

Well it looks like it was the reference sensors. I just had to fix the gap so there is no need to buy new ones.

If you are blowing the fuse to the clock, interior lights and radio, check the radio. You may have shorted it out. Disconnect the radio from the power. Pull the Blau out, remove connector and replace the fuse. Good luck.

The next thing to check is the back of the fuse panel. You may have corrosion. If you can get your head where the pedals are and can look up maybe you will be lucky and find a loose wire.
