Paint codes for the Porsches
OK, not sure if there is already a post for the Paint codes for the cars, but figured I would give this a shot. I have an 86 Silver that has a dark blue door on the passengers side (due to damage on the door at one time, easier to replace the door), I want to repaint the door but want to get a code for the color. I know I will need to lighten it up a little due to the years in the sun, but want to get close as I can. So if anyone has a chart they could post here, it would help me, and mabey some others. Go to clarks-garage.com and then the garage manual, click on P and then paint codes. They are all listed there. As for adjusting...if you can take the car to the paint shop, most now have guns that they can use to tell them how to "adjust" the paint exactly to match.

That's some good information on the paint codes but can anyone tell me what kind of paint was used at the factory? Poly? Lacquer? Enamel?

I'm not sure what type paint was on the original car but mine appears to be a single stage enamel but I'm not a paint expert so I can't say for sure. Definitely not a base coat clear coat system.
