Got My Phone Dials Powder Coated

I just wanted to post a picture of my newly powder coated phone dials. I previously painted them but I was never able to get the clear coat right. I even tried buffing with a high-speed buffer and that turned out to be a big mistake as it ripped the paint off in a matter of seconds.

Anyway, after 6 months of wasting more money, I took them into a powder coater. It was $55 per wheel and they did all the prep work.

I think they came out really nice. I wasn't able to match the silver 100% but it's very close. If I were to do this again, I'd review the swatches better.

They look great....did you go with clear powder coat on top of the silver, or just the straight silver? Is there any metallic in them? I was thinking of having my phone dials powder coated, and your pictures make me think that it is the right way to go.

They do look good, did you powder coat the centre caps too then hand paint the logos?

They are powder coated silver and then powder coated with clear.

Unfortunately, the silver looks a little gray at night and I wish I had selected a different silver. I will have to live with them for now.

Regarding the center caps - I completely forgot and so I brought them in yesterday. I will hand paint the centers when I get them back.

They look money!

Love 'em. I wouldn't be concerned about the exact shade of silver on them. I've seen several different shades of phone dials over the years. Heck, I don't think the factory itself had one matching color.

Awsome

They look great!
I need and want to do the same for wheels. So, just checked around Virginia (Washington D.C. area) and they quote me $100-$150 each wheel depend on its condition.

That seems pricy - mine were $55 each wheel and they had to strip them. However, the stripping charge would have been a little more if the wheels had factory paint (they didn't as I had previously painted them) because factory paint would require chemical dipping. In my case they just sand blasted.

I'd shop around for more powder coaters and find a big shop. You might get a lower price. Either that of ship them to CA - shipping would be cheaper than your quoted price.

They look very nice.

When I had my cookies done it was about $200 for the set but had to get them sandblasted at a different shop for $100.
