brake pad sensors

Can a 1983 944 be fitted with Brake Pad Sensors? If so, what do I need and how long will it take me?
Thanks

if it wasn't wired for it i would say it would be a major undertaking.

Hi Gordon!
Why do you need brake pad sensors? These car of ours need to be controlled and taken care of continuosly. Then you will see if a change of brake pad is neded. No lamp that brake in dash board. A sharp eye at the brakes now and then will do. Get a little dentist mirror an use it.

it looks to me like bearone2 answered the question. Consider that most people with ones that do have them just disable the sensors why bother?

first thing you would need is something that would give you an indication on your dash, which you dont have, so you would have to replace your gauges. Second you would have to figure out the wiring and wire all 4 wheels to the dash.

Did any early car come with them? I didn't think they did.

Ah, dont you just love the simplistic view? The less I have to deal with electrical issues the better... I need to get a new mirror and get to work!!
Thanks all

The KISS principle has served me well for a long time. I sometimes forget that.
Hp, I see you put the 10 speaker door panels from a 968 in your car. Was that difficult? Could that be accomplished on an early 944?

No, was too difficult. I think I have more money in the stereo setup on the car then I have in the car itself.

I think it could be done. Really there are only a few differences in the door panels. I removed all the stock speakers and replaced them with others. But the map pockets are different on early cars vs. lates. the tweeters go up by the window swichtes, 4x6 in the door are removed and a mid goes in the door pocket. If I had a door & door panel for an early car I'm sure I could fabricate something. Remember, the door panel is only cardboard covered in vinyl so it's pretty easy to do things.

Let me know what you want to do and I'll be happy to help out.
