help, where is engine number 944S?

I need to provide the engine number to the insurance company for my son's new (to him) 87 944S
I cannot find the stamped engine number.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not positive where an S engine number is, but an NA is on the back, left side of the engine next to the bell housing on a small flat surface. Close to the speed and reference sensors. Hopefully the S is in the same place.

do these numbers look reasonable, they are very hard to read way down there?

incidentally, top line is engine type / series,
or series / type?
