power window wiring help

I was going to replace the passengers window motor on the early model 944 & tried 12v directly to it from the battery & it worked. The drivers side works fine but neither switch seem to operate the passengers side. Is there anything I should check for first?

Trying to remember, but I think the pasenger switch feeds from the passenger switch on the drivers side & if either is bad the motor won't run. Since the passenger door panel is off, you may be able to check both of these switches from that side. From memory these switches have a six pin connection, sound rigth?

With a meter or voltage tester you can check & see if you are getting the voltage to the passenger door switch. If you are, you can pull the pasenger door switch & check it with a meter or continuity tester.

I check wiring diagrams & give you wire colors.

With a Meter set to DC Volts or Voltage Tester

Put Ground probe in Connector where Sw pin C goes - Brown Wire
Put Pos probe in connector where Sw pin D goes - Red/White? wire
Work Drivers Door Switgh for Pas window
Put Pos probe inconnector where sw pin E goes - Red/Black? wire
Work switch in drivers door.
If readings on both this switch is OK, if not you need this switch.

If OK, plug up the pas door swich & from back put ground probe on brown wire. Work the switch while alternating pos probe between motor wires. If no reading, this switch is bad.

Note: Info from Pelican Tech Info 944 Electric Window Diagram

I changed & cleaned all the power window switches around & the passenger window worked but it went up for down & vice versa. I will try to change the wires at the power motor . The switch that worked the driver's side window now is moved to power the passenger side but it does not work at the driver's position. The driver's window is still works okay with all the other switches.

True. I had a dirty switch, and either way they were installed the drivers side was the only one that would move up or down. No voltage at the passenger side when the drivers side switch was removed.

I'd recommend giving both a good shot of contact cleaner, and if that doesn't work take a peek inside (go slow and be careful that the small springs don't fly away)
