Removing The Down Pipe From 924

Can Anyone Give Me A Tip On Removing The Down Pipe From My 82 924 Non Turbo It Looks Like I Might Have To Remove The Alternator To Do So.any Advise Would Be Greatly Appreciated Thanks

Going by memory, here, but I would think pulling the starter and oil filter would give more relevant room - though I'm not sure even that is necessary.

Or are you talking about removing the exhaust manifold as well?
