Getting the Itch

It's almost time to get the 951 out of storage.

It just needs to rain to clear the salt off of the roads and reach 70º...

I feel the same, unfortunatly the banks at the end of my driveway are still over 5 feet tall. Last year I took my car out in late March, this year it will probably be into April.

I am feeling the spring time itch as well. My storage lease is up at the end of the month so she will be coming out.

To make matters worse my 3 year old daughter LOVES the 944 and always asks when we are going to take a ride. My response has always been "when all the snow melts". So now when the snow is melting she always points this out to me by saying. "Daddy, the snow is melting. Can we ride in the Porsche now?"

Soon my little one, soon.

Its okay, remember back when you first got your car, the anticipation, the excitement, the pure joy of the first drive?

I get to experience that every spring

That feeling goes away? I've only owned mine for going on 7 years though. I enjoy it everyday of the year.

Like I said, I feel for you guys. I actually get the urge to drive to work - that never happened in my old car. Hang in there....

I had winters that I used last spring but those were swapped out for some Pilot Sports which arent much good in cold let alone the snow. I might try to get the car out in 2 weeks. I then have to install a new front sway bar, new headunit, subwoofer and arrange to get some new Torsion bars installed.

Out of storage? Sounds nice. Right now my 951's engine bay is in about 1000 pieces in my garage!

Ohhh yeah. Took it out, ran like a champ. Too bad it needs a new timing belt-driving it 6 miles to the shop was such a tease....

I'm proud to report that last week I took the cover off and rolled the 924S out of the garage, changed the oil, checked over everything. It had been getting started once biweekly and ran for 10 minutes or so just to keep everything good but this was the first time it was actually driven since, oh, I guess September...

Sad to report that mice (!) got up into the engine bay, chewed on the rubber on the distributor end of the plug wires, left a lot of droppings on the shock towers, and then proceeded to get into the mirror section of the car cover and chew a large hole in it. I was pissed. I have since been keeping the cat in the garage at night.

After the oil change I warmed up the car and took it out.. told myself I was going to just putt around since it had been sitting and all..

that lasted about 10 miles. W.O.T. felt soooo good.

Belt tension is still great and so is the hoses and what not.. only concern is that the injectors seem to be really noisy (they click loud when firing). Moreso than I remember. I'm going to try and look up on past posts to see if anyone has ever heard of this happening.

It's almost time for some midwest meet and greets!

Jim:

You guys still doing Porsche Thursdays? I have been thinking about coming up to Chicago to see my daughter late April and it would be cool to drive up and have a couple brews. I love it beacuse my wife won't ride that far in the car. I get alone time, very soothing.

Steve

I'm getting the itch so bad to go pick up my new 931! It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive across state to get it though and I really am trying to wait untill all of the roads are cleared to go and get it. Ohhh it's so tempting.

It's so nice to rountinely plant the nose and turn.

I baby mine. I'd love to let it eat, but I can't afford to track it. Just how well will it hold?

I'm a pace car driver in a race car, I know.

Lucky bassstard. I'm neck-deep in a head gasket job.

Of course, I'm already suffering from that rare malady, common amongst Porsche owners, known as "while I'm in there" disease...
