Vacuum Elbows - Expensive!

Why on earth are the elbows used on the vacuum system so expensive? Pelican lists the parts as 928-574-717-02 and that corresponds to the PET.

1.) The car has both U-elbows, and J-elbows. The PET says they're the same part numbers, but obviously, on my car anyway, they're not the same shape, unless age has frozen the Us into Js. Are they indeed the same?

2.) Why are they $6.75 each?? With 12 Js and Us (on my car) needed to replace the entire vacuum system joints, that's $75 in elbows!

3.) Am I right in only needing 12 of them? Lindsey racing sells the Ys as part of their vacuum replacement kit. At $14 each, these are not cheap either.

4.) Are there any replacements that can be bought that are cheaper than this?

Thanks!

That's why going with the lindsey kit is the best thing. No need for the elbows anymore. Just get the kit and replace it all.

I'm confused. The lindsey kit only shows 4 Y-joints and a roll of vacuum line. Without the elbows, isn't the line going to kink at the joints, especially around the fuel dampener and regulator?

Nope. It's silicon hose, not thin plastic. The hose becomes the elbows and U's.

I bought my elbows at 944online.com I thing they were $3 ea but the Y's were more, I think about $7.

It made a big difference on my car as the old elbows were very loose and east to remove. The new ones were very snug.

I highly recommend the lindsey racing kit. It swaps the "female" elbows and "male" cheap plastic lines for "female" pliable silicone lines and "male" heavy-duty metal connectors. It all makes MUCH more sense than how it looked when it left the Porsche factory.

Although the Porsche OEM vacuum lines make much more sense than the 100% cheap rubber lines on the old American cars.
