MO30 sway bar kit
I own an 84 944 NA and I'm wondering if anyone has installed the MO30 sway bars on theirs and if you've noticed a difference or if it was worth it, etc., etc.
Lindsey Racing sells a kit for right at $500 http://www.lindseyracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=LR&Category_Code=944SWAYMO30 I'd love to upgrade my handling before I upgrade much in the engine and I've heard that these sway bars and a strut brace can do wonders. If you have any others suggestions for suspension upgrades that make a noticeable difference, please let me know. Thank you, Kevin

I have done this swap on a customers car. Had to upgrade to the 1986 lower control arms as the m030 sways are too thick to use the existing mounting hoops, therefore you need new newer arms. You have to use the later ones. SO, that being said he LOVES IT, and wishes he had done it sooner.
So find yourself a set of Alum 1986 arms, rebuild the balljoints, THEN install the sways! Get the sway bar stiffener brackets too from Rennbay or someone...

I have a 30mm MO30 front and a 22mm aftermarket rear with an 86 turbo suspension, as well as a strut brace - there is absolutely no body roll when I hit a turn.
I took off the strut brace last weekend to get at the air filter, and I think I heard the car give a sigh of relief as it relaxed. It really stiffens up the front end. Last edited by PXJ800; 07-22-2008 at 08:57 AM.. |

I have the 968 M030 bars on my 1988 n/a. The difference was amazing as there is very little body roll and the ride quality is not ruined. In fact, the ride quality got better and going over small bumps in the road feels like I'm in a brand new car - no noise or harshness. I highly reccomend.

Kevin you can bore out the endlink bushings to fit the larger front 30mm bar, this avoids the need for new front control arms.
