What to apply to dash to prevent/reduce cracks?

My dash is nice and clean. I have a few tiny cracks starting from the defrost vents.

What can I add to rejuvenate/soften the dash so it's not so brittle?

Anything?

not sure if anything will help...from what I have read the material used in the origional dash expands and contracts too easily causing the dash to crack. Someone else may know something that may retard the effects

There are no real liquid products to keep the damgae in check. The best prevention is to use a windshield shade and a dash cover whenever the car is parked outside in the sun. UV is the enemy of vinyl and leather and results in probably 90% of the degradation. I use either 303 Protectant or Vinylex on the dash when cleaning the interior synthetic parts.

It just seems really dry/brittle... I am sure it was more 'supple' from the factory. What about a leather conditioner?

Honestly there really isn't anything to soften the dash...its vinyl...the only thing you could really try is Vinylex or armorall and armorall can actually dry it out more if you don't keep putting in on...Leather conditioner really only works with leather, but you can try it, its not like its gonna hurt. Lexol is a pretty decent brand and i think Mother's has conditioner also

A word of caution.. We've discussed this before and I'd like to say it again DO NOT USE ARMOR-ALL. It may look nice but it dries out vinyl, leather etc.

I use Zymol. Yes, I know it's not leather, but it smells good and I sleep at night.

Keep car garaged if you can and out of the sun as much as possible. Which is almost impossible while driving, huh? LOL
