And also to add....when the noise is at its loudest and i rev the engine the noise is faster.. |
Have you run any detergents through the oil, like Marvel Mystery Oil? That usually helps with lifter noise.
Before an oil change, add about 1 pint, let it get warm, and go drive it hard. Come back, change the oil while it's warm. Replace the filter with a K&N Oil filter or OEM MAHLE filter. DO NOT USE FRAM or any other generic filter brand. |
Also, you may want to replace with SWEPCO oil, 10W30 that's for sale here. It is much better than retail brands available at your FLAPS.

i guess ill try that too

It would help if you at least linked the whole history on this issue.
I now know you have a 16V car (just learned this), I have no idea when the sound started or why you had the valve cover off. The questions are coming up faster than potential answers and I think most of us here are just guessing. ATF is good for freeing stuck lifters, pour in 1 bottle, run the engine 15-20 minutes (or a couple light trips around the block) then change the oil. After this noisy lifters quiet down. This works, unless there are metal filings in the lifters and in the cam area, or the oil passage to the cam area is plugged, etc, etc, etc. Need more info before any of this advice is relevant. |
If it was sticking valves why would it not tick on a cold start up right when i start it up it starts few mins later 3 or 4 sometimes sooner...
one more thing that i found today...cold start it dose not tick then 4,5 min later it starts and i keep looking at the oil pressure bar it stayed in bettwen 4 and 5 and then i turned the car of when it reached 1 st white line on the temperature,i turned it of then starte it the ticking stops quick and the oil pressure drops right under 4 bars.. so i am guessing something with the oil pressure is wrong i did replace the oil pressure valve but it was used.. |
Still dose it... maybe i should replace the oil pump???
|
Ahhhhh. It's an S. Knowing that helps...
|
If the oil pressure reading is correct the OPRV is fine. The sensor is AFTER the pressure release valve. If the OPRV was no good your oil pressure reading would show it.
We still have almost no history on it or why you were doing any drilling / removing parts, but it sounds like a top end oil flow problem or a collapsed/failing lifter. Quote:

i driller a valve cover middle bolt because it broke in half..and druing that time i was changing the chain tensioner..yes its a 944S..and while drilling i broke the drill bit and i still have not idea where it went...i tryed puting magnet down the 4 oil sink holes to catch it but nothing and i changed the oil few times...The noise just started one day when one of my famliy members drove the car, this was not a day or two after i did this work it was few days later...when i heard it the first time it was not as loud as it is now..when i turned the car of and restarted it the noise stoped because the engine was warm..and then the next day the noise was loud like now..at first it dose not make the noise then after a bit few mins it starts...so u have to idle it untill reach the first white line then u restart and it goes away... |
i kinda thought u guys know its a S..my bad:D

"i am going for the rod bearings i am going to check them out and see what i find..how do you get to the lifters? could i check them out when i check the rod bearings too?"
Maybe time for a mechanic to have a look... Lifters are north, rod bearings south. The former requires pulling your valve cover off and getting under the cams. The latter requires dropping the oil pan. Have you been to Clark's Garage yet? |
both jobs will be alot of time and effort.
whether u pull the head or the oil pan, there's a bunch of work that should be done while yer in there. at the very least, new gaskets and seals where appropriate. |
