I had a 86 NA trans w/ LSD 7V, went very quick for $500, cost $150 to box up and ship from AL to UT

Shipping cost is about right. $150 it should be in a wooden crate. LSD trans are rare but a rebuilt one can go anywhere from $1700 - $1900. You can check with George at 944ecology or Ian at 944online. So I'm guessing $500 - $1000 unrefurbished.

I want to be sure I'm reading this right. Are you planning to swap out an N/A lsd trans with one from a 951 in an N/A car? If so, this is not a good move.

Not much of a market for non-turbo LSDs. But I would say around $750 would be reasonable.

...and a thumbs up to central CT. I'm from Durham, have a house in Middletown now.

fast924S - aren't you from Guilford?

would it be easier to sell by removing the lsd from the transaxle?( it would sure simplify shipping)

You have to dismantle the Tranaxle and pull the pinion shaft to get the diff from a 944, it's not like a 911 where the carrier just comes right out, as it's on the inside of the pinion since the transaxle faces the other way.

BTW, on my shipping quote earlier, I was just informed today by my friend that billed the shipping for me that UPS added a $40 surcharge to the shipping bill halfway through the transit. She forwarded me the notice from UPS so I know she's not full of it. That brings it closer to $200 to ship from AL to UT I don't have the heart to call the guy and hit him up for $40 more after everything is said and done, it just doesn't seem right, so be advised if you ship the whole thing...

FWIW mine weighed aprox. 130lbs dry and you need a container at least 30x20x20 depending on how much protection you put around the input shaft sticking past the bellhousing surface.

When I had my trans rebuilt in CT, I was encouraged to send it via Yellow Frieght. I made a wooden crate; packed it up and went to my local Yellow Freight dispatch office. Cost was $125.00 -$150.00 shiped from Chicago to CT. It took 2 days. Insurance costs extra.

I don't believe UPS will ship this as they have a weight limit.

For sure over 120lbs - I've UPS shipped a couple and with a box it's a hair under 150lbs (max weight before you have to use UPS Freight).
