Door handle adjust..What's the trick?

The process is simple and well explained. But just how in the world do you pop that little plastic @#$%er off of the post easily? I managed to get the one on the drivers side by sliding a angle head wrench under it and popping it off. Turn, adjust, easy.

There has to be a better way to pop that thing off! I still need to do the passenger side before I wrench the handle right off of the door. Any bent wrench, screwdriver from the side, or something else tricks?

The inner panel? LOL, yes. I managed to get the drivers side adjusted and was thinking there had to be a better way. I used an open end wrench slid in between the outer skin and the window rail then under the plastic piece. Now I am trying to do the passenger side. I was thinking I had to be missing something. If I take the extrenal door handle off, can it be accessed that way? I never even tried doing that.

nope, it's a hat trick to connect it, then remove again to adjust, ad nauseum......

not really, worse access and the rod attaches to the door handle and the hinge point is where it usually breaks.

A hat trick is right. I think I had to adjust the drivers door like 5 times before I got it where I wanted it.

Thanks!

Here is a great start.

http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/944_door_handle_tuneup/944_door_handle_tuneup.htm

Notes: Be really careful when you pry off the panel not to pop out the plastic snaps that hold it onto the door frame. There is a "tray" for lack of a better word under the door handle. Little notch at the front for a small flat tip and it pops off. Has a screw under it that holds the panel on.

My outer seals are in pretty good shape so I didn't replace them but this is the time if you need to. My plastic liners were wasted so I picked up some heavy weight garden type plastic from the local hardware store and just cut out new. Little spray cement and almost good as new.
