Servie Interval Question
Hi guys,
I'm a newcomer to 944s and I have a few questions. I am looking at buying a 1986 Turbo. It has low 60,000 miles distance travelled . The owner has sent me his service records as below- Distances are in Kilometers 9/86 3K Oil Change and Service 2/87 10K " 9/87 18K " " 6/88 26k " 5/89 ? ? ? book stamped no other entries 7/90 41K " " 5/91 49K " " 3/92 62k " " Brake and Coolant changed 3/93 73K " " 12/94 79k " 3/96 81k " " Brake and coolant changed 6/97 84k " 7/98 86k " 7/99 88k " 5/00 91k " Timing and Balance Belts changed 5/01 94K " 11/04 96K " " 11/05 98K " " 6/07 99K stamped but no other entry I am concerned in that the coolant hasn't been changed in what looks like 12 years even though the car has travelled only 18000 kilometers it is a long time. Does anyone out there know what the interval is. Judging by the previous records it looks like 4 years. Any other comments would be appreciated. Regards, Greg.

Greg,
4 to 5 years is max on antifreeze-Long Life style. The numbers show the car was driven 2-4 thousand KM between servicing. Can you get additional reciepts/records from the owner? Have a PPI done in any case. I saw a couple other turbos on http://carpoint.com.au/ http://carpoint.com.au/used-car/PORSCHE/944/New%20South%20Wales/csn5904394.aspx http://carpoint.com.au/used-car/PORSCHE/944/Victoria/csn6598379.aspx You may get additional help on the Pelican turbo forum. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-944-turbo-turbo-s/ GL John_AZ 1988 924S + 1987 924S |
