Re-post...alarm issue???HELP!!!

Ok, so here is the run down....

Bought the car, it had been sitting for three years...

Pertinent information....

1. The horn beeped every time the door opened when I went to trailer it home
2. It started on starter fluid before the work, but it has yet to run on gas
3.Replaced
Fuel Pump
Fuel Filter
Fuel Damper
Fuel Pressure Reg.
All Vac hose
Battery
Ignition coil
Spark plugs
Plug Wires
Dist Cap
Rotor
DME
ALL small fuses
Headlamp relay
J-boot
Belts, some hoses

---- cleaned all fuel lines, jumpered the pump as per clark's, all is well with the pump

so then I...

-----Tested for spark, no spark
-----jumpered the alarm as per clark's, no help

The horn will sound when I go to crank the car, but not every time, and that is a new development, really only happened when I went to try to crank it, and the battery had started to lose power. I have a trickle charger on the battery that I plug it into to keep it charged. I do have a factory alarm, but my ignition key does not fully fit it...however I can turn the keyhole cylinder??? Should it be vertical when armed or horizintal? HELP!!!!

There is no spark that I can see.....have not tested the injectors

What do I do next??? Thank you all for your continued help. What do you think, is this an electrical issue related to the alarm????

Reposted for clarity

The alarm key slot should be vertical if you want your car to start. Horizontal is armed.

I would consider taking the alarm key switch out of the car and looking at it, if it is not acting properly. Look at this post:

Rekeying Factory Alarm Switch - Pics!

Good luck, Keith

that figures....you think I should just pull the cylinder and have it re-keyed? That how to link sounds like it would work, but if you guys think it would be easy for a local shop tp re-key the tumbler.....????

Hi, easiest fix might be to take the cyclinder out and hook the 2 wires together to complete the circut and then put the cylinder back in?

Hi, it seems to me that all you are doing is completing a circut. I have never had to service my switch but take the inside panel off and go from there.

Porsche Crest No-Start 944

Hi rex00111 - Reposted for clarity.

Reference previous threads: Fuel starved, next step? & Fuel pressure question

Cut everything down to the basics.

1) By-pass the alarm. That will stop a no-start condition in the DME computer.

2) If you are not getting a spark and have voltage at the coil, the next step is to swap out that DME. No matter what you do, the DME sends the feed voltage to the coil & if it is not doing so, you will never get a spark.

took it all apart and cleaned the contacts. I was able to pop off the back instead of having to cut into it....so that helped. The copper connectors were VERY corroded, so I cleaned it up, and put it back. Still have a no-start but am working through it step by step

Thanks to all
