Whining noise

My 924s has always had this loud whining sound in the engine I tried to make it go away by putting on a Cherry Bomb on it but it didn't work you can still hear it. It gets louder as you accelerate. It's really anoying and kind of embarassing. I've heard it on other 924's and 944's before. Does anybody know what it is and how to make it go away?

gotcha. you'll have to be more clear on where it's coming from. did you check the obvious? power steering fluid level? did you recently do a timing/bs belt change where the belts are now too tight?

Try upgrading the stereo. That should mask the sound for ya!

Retension it so it's not quite as tight.

Also, another thing that really makes the balance shaft belt whine bad is if it's tightened counter-clockwise. Why, I dunno, bnut it really does make a difference.

From Clark's: "Turn the tensioning roller clockwise to tighten, counter-clockwise to loosen."

Texas, you just earned good Porsche Karma points man! Mine makes that exact same sound. I will re-adjust the balance belt.

I was going to record that sound for a Help me! post.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
