Porsche Crest Refinish, (Options), Phone Dial Wheels on 951? What ws orignial paint code or finish?

I have 4 16" Phone Dials that are just flatly finished - meaning they are straight, no dents, rust or pits, but the paint is just a dull battleship grey. I understand that the finish on these wheels is originally a factory enamel.
I am going to have the care repainted in a couple of weeks, and was considering having the wheels painted too.
The car is Zermatt Silver, but I don't think the original finish on the wheels was the same as the car.
Anyone know what paint code or finish was on them?
Re: Chroming them, too much money and I think a little flashy for me.
Suggestions appreciated...[img]

I believe this is supposed to be correct:

http://www.autogeek.net/wurth-silver-paint.html

but it is very pricey and at least at the time that I painted a set of wheels was unavailable anyway.

This is what I used:

http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemType=PRODUCT&RS=1&itemID=96&keyword=10001

and it appeared "close enough" at least when all four wheels were painted.

The parts store (I think Dupli-Color?) silver wheel paint wasn't really a good match; too grey and the metallic flake was too large, it just looked wrong.

good luck

The Wurth silver is perfect. Just shot my 944S 16" wheels with it. Remove all the original paint with 400 grit. Clean with fine thinner. Shoot three coats of the silver. Let dry then wet sand with 1000 grit till smooth. Finish coat with the Wurth clear. Looks better than new!

the color code for the phone dials are L980 . porsche did not use an enamel on there wheels they used urethane . porsche never used an enamel paint on cars at all . porsche was one of the first car co's to use a urethane paint on there cars . they went from lacquer right to acryic urethane then to a full urethyane . also porsche was one of the first car co's to use clear coats . M Benz , opel , vw audi all did the same thing with in the same time frame . that would be starting in the late 1960's .

Thanks all, especially toolboy and Glademister. It sounds like Wurth's Silver is the way to go. I'll post pictures and let you know how it went.

Another option I don't know if you have considered is "polished" wheels. It is somewhere in the middle between the chrome and the silver paint. On the phone dials it ends up with a dull sheen in a lite pewter type color.
