verry strange idle problem

ok my 944 cup car has a strange problem when the engine is cold no problems idleing but when its hot/warm especially when i cum into pits after a track session the car begins to cut out then idle normally then cutout on off on off on off ect. i had a spare crappy afm laying around and it had the same problem as my usual afm so i popped off the black top and manually moved the arm a hair more open and it stopped dieing like possible theres a dead spot in the arms at the idle position. also Ive never noticed any problems off idle i plan to take the afm out of my daily driver afm this weekend to race with to see if this solves my problem but any thoughts would be awesome this is a real anoying problem and makes my car seem like a piece of junk.

Clark's Garage has a good procedure for checking and adjusting the AFM. I used it to get around a dead spot at the idle. Pretty simple procedure actually. If you're talking about the screw on the throttle body, same place for adjustment procedure. I think I've looked at and tried most of the simple stuff there, and even ventured into some of the more challenging. Between information from the people here and Clark's Garage you can solve most problem's pretty quickly. Good luck.

Whenever I hear about problems like that that only happen when the car is either hot or cold, I wanna think vacumn leaks.

If it only occurs at idle, it probably isn't that AFM. Another possible culprit could be the ICV.

But the first thing to check would be all the vacumn connections. I'd tighten all the hose clamps I could find. Make sure the J-Boot is secure. Stuff like that.

Has the intake manifold been off lately?

all the vacumn liines are new silicone ones with no leaks and all the clamps and everything are tight the car gets a full nut and bolt every time its run. ill check the intake by shooting carb cleaner at the base to see if theres a leak but it hasnt been off anytime recently
