Design 90s

I am trying to buy a set of design 90's as I want to refurb my fuch's (not interested in teledials or 928 styles or silver rose type design 90's - all to pricey).

The pic is of a set I want to buy on ebay - the seller is difficult to contact and i want to know if they are 6's all round or 6's and 8's respectively. the front tyres are 225 50 16 and rear are 245 45 16. They are apparently from a 944 Turbo.

Any thoughts, is there any way of telling from the photo or tyre size - i know its obviously stamped on the back of the rim!?

Also anyone have any pics of design 90's on their cars!

Based on tire size I would say they are 6's and 8's, but the seller should respond if they are worth their salt.

I would not bid on parts that have unresponsive sellers, as you may likely end up with an unresponsive shipper.

Those are 6 and 8, from a 911. I believe 944s were sold with 7s up front, 8s in the rear. I LOVE D90s!

Pictures, you say?? A bit dirty from the long drive from Oregon, but. . .

these are 7 and 8s with 225s on the front and 245s on the rear.

Honestly i think they are 7'' and 8'' based on tire sizes. A 225 does not fit on a 6'' wide wheel (at least not safely). Also based on the slight lip around the spoke i think they are 7's also. I had a set of 16x6's and the spoke and lip of the wheel was basically flush... have also had a set of 16x7 D90's so i am familiar with both widths.
But a picture only tells so much.. .

LOL for a short period of time I did have 225s on a 6 inch wheel and they were "pinched" to say the least. Based on the photos and comparing it to mine I would think they are 7 & 8's as well. Try to get a part number from the seller.

Thanks guys will do my best. Spent a bit of time looking at off sets etc last night and it seems that the D90's may not actually fit my 1986 NA 2.5 straight up. Is this true would I need spacers or hubs - really want to avoid that as this is just while I do up my Fuchs. Rasta whats the deal with yours, they look awesome on your 24! cheers

someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the D90s are late offset wheels and your car takes the early offset (anything 1986 and earlier). So yes, you would need spacers to make them fit properly. If it's just a temporary thing, you can go with some early offset phonies or cookie cutters would do the trick. that may be your best option.

The rear rims in the photo look like 6's - this is because the spokes are too close to the outer rim to be 7's or 8's.

I had 225's on my 6" wheels and they were terrible. 205's work much better on the 6" rims and that is what the factory called for. I originally had phone dials but when I bought my Design 90's, I swapped the tires. My 225's caused the front wheels to roll in a hard corner. Since then, I have switched to 205's in the front and the steering, grip, and handling is mucn better.
