3.0 intake manifold on a 2.5
Will a 3.0 intake manifold fit on a 85 2.5 head? Are they the same or different? I just ask because I have one that came with the car.

The ports on the 16V cars (944S, 944S2, 968) are an oval shape, and the 8 valve cars they are round.

I've just recently purchased my 85a and just playing with ideas. I'm still getting it ready for the road. I currently drive a 94 MR2 NA and get 26mpg but the little 2.2 135hp handles great but revs too high 3000 at 60mph in 5th. Turbos seem to do the same and I don't like all the blow volume. I'm playing with the idea of selling the MR2 and sticking to the 944. The revs are better and it has good power with the high revs. It's also very quiet and cruises smoother and quieter at high speeds. I've also found it is much easier to work on than having a FWD/RWD car.
On the down side the interior is quite outdated so I might be selling it and getting a newer model but otherwise it seems to perform well. My MR2 looks a lot better though. I'm just not sure what to do. Any thoughts?????????? Comments???? Last edited by l.groves; 11-15-2009 at 06:21 AM.. Reason: spelling |

I would ditch the MR2 if it is not a turbo version. MR2's, in general, are also far less practical than the 4 cylinder porsches, when it comes to transporting people and cargo, due to lack of back seats and a hatch-in-the-back.
They are pretty nice looking, though. Especially the turbos. Hell, the Fiero GT's were damn cool looking cars too, for that matter.

Yea I had a few fiero's but you couldn't reach in your pocket without getting out of the car! It was also a rwd/fwd car. Hard as hell to reach the sparkplugs near the firewall. I'm probably just going to keep both of them and drive around a few months and see which one I want to keep. The two things leaning me towards the 944 are the mpg and lower rpm range with going over 60.

MR2 and fiero are both Midengine... Say that instead of rwd/fwd. That is confusing as all get out....
Yes I think you would be better off to ditch the MR2 if you are looking for a street car.... Now for track driving... I would blow that MR2 and go dust some Miatas. ![]() |

I was saying it that way mainly because it is like working on a fwd. Mid engine or not it is stuffed in there just like a fwd. Scrape your knuckles, flex/extend/rotate all your joints to get to that one bolt with two fingers working backwards and only get a quarter turn.. Phew!! brings back nightmares............

I've spent time in the engine bay (literally, in) of a gen 2 MR2. Groves is correct, it's like working on a FWD car.

I'd think it would be worse... Since you can only get at it from the sides.... EFF THAT.
I can't imagine only working on the Corrado from the sides... |
