Hows the B-17 to work on? Must be nice not having to work all night to get it ready for a long day of flying (everyday!) Hard to find parts? I know it is for us.

The B-17 is kinda fun to work on. Most of it was designed to be maintained in the field, so it's not too bad. Parts can be a bit of a challenge, but they can be found or made. In fact, a friend of mine is building new bushings for the landing gear pivot points so we can install them in the next few weeks. He's also made a batch of new tail wheel hubs machined out of billet aluminum. The original wheels are nearly impossible to find. Most of the engine and prop parts are fairly easy to source, in fact there are several shops that still rebuild them. I'll be headed out to Albuquerque in a couple of weeks to help out with some of the winter maintenance.
