Can someone identify this part? Pic..
Hi Guys
Can you please identify this part. It's on a 1990 944 S2. It's an electrical connector just behind the distributor that sits in a metal clip. The heat from the exhaust has made the connector brittle and cracked so its held together with a cable tie at the moment until I know what to order. It looks like one of the wires goes back under the distributor - maybe its the Hall sensor lead? Any advice or part number would be appreciated Thanks guys

hall sender cable - there should be a connector coming from the back of the distributor that goes to it

the PET calls it a Hall Sender, as does Pelican's catalog, but it is also called a Camshaft Position Sensor, which is technically more accurate - it tells the DME where the cam is relative to the crank - i'm surprised there aren't obvious symptoms

Thanks guys - no symptoms at all. Still runs beautifully. All three wires are still connected properly and separate from each other it's just that the plastic shell that would normally surround the 3 pins is cracked away so they are fully exposed.
I'll have a closer look tonight but it may not be the Hall Sensor connector that is cracked but rather the male side of the connector that goes into the hall sensor plug. If that is the case I need to try to track down the part number for that connector. Any ideas? I notice in the back of the PET catalogue there are a LOT of connectors listed but becasue mine is cracked away I can't get any part numbers off it. |
