Smile help with my keys

hey again

just a quick one... my car came with 3 different keys,
1 for ingnition
1 to unlock/lock doors
1 to open boot

is this normal?

and the first 2 keys have central locking buttons, this this normal aswell?
if it is does anyone know how to make then work with my central locking?

the boot key looks like the 924 keys like my dads key round rubbery with the porsche badge.

thanks.

Hi, you should have 1 key for the glovebox and another key that operates everything else.

My one key works everything. If you are trying to eliminate keys, as I always am, I would keep the ignition key and have the other locks rekeyed to match.

Hi...my '87 944 ignition key fits everything except the alarm (which has a separate key).

Speaking of re-keying, is this DIY or must it be taken to a dealer or locksmith? Some of my cylinders are buggy and I would like to swap them out with some spares that I have but still stay with a single key.

TIA

I have always taken my lock cylinders to a lock smith. By time I try to buy the tools and pieces needed, not to mention my time to learn/figure it out, the $25 per cylinder that they charge to rekey it is well worth the money.

If a locksmith can rekey it the I would assume anyone could within reason.

My single 951 key operates everything mentioned, plus the fuel tank cap. The alarm is armed automatically when the doors are locked. But I did install remote keyless entry to the central locking system. And the factory alarm system didn't have a movement sensor, so I installed one of those, also.

Those buttons are for the little flashlight LED thing that's built into the key head.
