price check on an S engine
Haven't had an S in a while and was wondering what I should list it at? Any thoughts.
Complete 1988 944S engine with 130,000 miles on it. Runs but probably needs cam chain tightened and pads done? No records of anything done to it? Last edited by plyhammer; 12-21-2009 at 04:05 PM.. |

I paid $3400 for my 87S in pretty good condition, with 120k miles on it immaculate service records up to 101k miles two owners but was in a front end wreck. Needed belts/front struts/swaybar bushings when I bought it and now I'm replacing the ISV which is the last thing before it will be in good health again (well among other little things, new plugs, run some seafoam in it, etc) The guy had initially wanted $4800... but he needed money for school and never drove it so lucky me.
With no records 3.5k maybe 4. The S doesn't have a very good reputation from what i've found from talking to people about the 944s as well as reading about them, really just from the chain tensioner. Parts are also more expensive for the S so.... gl with the sale hope this helps a little. Edit: oh wow i didn't see that it was just an engine I'm an idiot sorry, might as well just leave this post up anyway as it could help Last edited by LSA; 12-21-2009 at 04:03 PM.. |

price should be a little more than a regular 8v and will depend on condition more than anything else

I have seen good useable S heads alone for $900 asking price but don't know if anyone has ever gotten that for one.
