Jacking to remove a/c compressor
I'm planning to replace my 1986 951's fried a/c compressor. I read Bob's thread about replacing the clutch and he said jack up the front of the car and place on jackstands....how exactly do you do this and where do you put the stands.
It seems in the owners manual the only jack point is in the middle of the car so both front and rear wheels go up at the same time. Can you put a stand under only the front, lower, go to the other side jack up the entire other side with a stand already under the front opposite side without the whole shebang crashing to the ground? Also, where exactly are safe hardpoints to put the stands. Pictures if available would be appreciated. thks, scott |

I use my floor jack to lift from the round jack points in the front, and the place the jack stands under the main frame beams that run front to back, one on each side. If you have a Hayne's Manual, look on page 28, you can see their jack stands being used on those beams in the left corners of the pic.
