Huge rattle from wheel well

Hello.

I finally got my 944 on the road after working on it for 8 months. Over the last few weeks a noise from one of rear wheel well area has gotten progessively worse. At first I thought it was the rear hatch not closing but that was not it. Then I checked the rear seat bolts and the latch pin but all was secure. I also took the wheel off thinking it might be a shock or suspension issue but was not able to determine anything. The noise is a big rattle sounding like a bolt has come loose and it's right at the top of the wheel well next to the gas tank tube. Any help on figuring this out would be appreciated as it's driving me crazy.

Thanks

Fuel tank neck itself? Muffler/exhaust system? Loose spare/jack stuff in the wells?

+1. My bet is the shock absorber. Unless it sounds like thin metal, in which case I would guess either a heat shield on the exhaust or a brake dust shield.

It was the shock. I replaced it with a new Boge and it fixed it right up. Thanks everybody for the help.
