so, to recap. you had sand in your tank but were getting proper pressure and flow from the fuel pump.

but now, you've cleaned it all out but the coil is bad.

bad dme, bad dme relay, broken timing belt, i am sure there are more options.

what makes you think you aren't getting signal to the injectors?

Are you getting tach bounce?

I'm trying to figure out why I'm not getting signals to open the injectors also. I can open them up manually and the car will run. The stuff I've done is in this thread: Can I generate fuel injector signals? Do I have a bad DME?

I am a little lost here.....you checked the strainer and it was clean, yet you have sand in your tank? Plus you changed the fuel filter, and noticed no sand?

Something is strange.....

what makes me think i aint getting signal is that im gettin proper amount of gas pressure to them, i can spray car cleaner in the throttle boddy and it runs. but when u first start these cars all ur injectors open at the same time for the start. but after it starts and the key is moved to ac than they open at seperate times. i think that there just not gettin a signal from the dme computer. but i think what may cause this is a bad fly wheel sensor but im not totally sure. what do u all think?

Hey, I'm bascially having the exact same problem. However When I try to throttle mine, it dies. And actually I don't even need to touch the throttle and it will die.
What things could be associated with that?

You should try checking the pressure - Fuel Pressure - Checking

Here's the procedure for testing the DME relay: DME Relay Information and Testing
Do these pumps activate when the key is in the 'on' position or when the engine actually starts cranking?
I test mine and the pump didn't activate till I started cranking the engine. I had the fuel feed off and aimed into a can and as soon as I crank the engine, fuel started gushing out. Is that normal or should the pump energize prior to cranking?

i think it doesn't start the fuel pump until the engine is turning over. it is a safety feature that prevents the pump from running on in the event of an accident or other failure.

bs. the DME has nothing to do with the starter.
