Click-Click nothing!
Finally got finished with the paint work on my 86 944 Turbo project. The car has been sitting about 3 years outside but according to the owner started without a problem the last time he tried.
I just installed a new battery and don't really want to start it but want to bump the engine over a bit to make sure it isn't locked up. I installed a new battery, cleaned the battery cables turned the key, two clicks and nothing. The clicks are not the selenoid but it sounds like relays in the fuse panel. The first click happens around the second position of the ignition, the second click is maybe when it is turned to start. I can't hear the fuel pump running either. I have read about the DME relay and sensors, just wondering where to start. I don't think it is the starter because like I said, it does not sound like the selenoid is doing anything. Rusty |

If its not even turning over i would bench test your starter first.
The ignition switch could be bad, starter solenoid is bad, wiring to starter is bad or the battery cables are corroded internally. The DME relay and speed/reference sensors have nothing to do with it just cranking over.

My first assumption would be the starter but usually you can at least hear a click from the selenoid. The other thing is the fuel pump, i don't hear anything?

Make sure all your connectors are tight at the battery and starter.
