I would like to install new disks on my 1984 944, has anyone done this? What is the time and difficulty required for the job?
I'm a decent wrencher (changed front disks on my 94 T-bird) but I don't have much free time and I'm just plain lazy ![]()

Not too hard.
Its not really that hard. I did it in a few hours my first time. The only hard part is getting the caliper bolts loose after all the years since the last change. They take some work. But its really an easy job.
Good luck! Brian |

it's so damn easy that you'll feel like a schmuck if you pay someone else to do it
![]() tips: ...get LOTS of rags ...the directions in the haynes manual are 100% correct ...get LOTS of brake cleaner, and anti-sieze (this stuff called "PB Blaster" is the best!) don't forget to put the speedometer pin back in on the front left wheel. offhand, if you're going to do all 4, the rear ones need to have the bearings pressed in. to get 2 pressed in and packed with grease set me back a humungous $30. good luck! obin

Its very easy. Get a Haynes manual and you won't have a problem at all. I could prolly switch mine out in about a half hour each with all the times i've messed with them. Goodluck

Scottman,
Don't think you need to mess with the bearings. Disk is held on the rear with two flat screws. You can thread the screws in the other holes to release the disk. drew1 |
