DME Temperature Sensor Testing
** The problem **
At cold my car miss's at idle, when its hot it doenst do it anymore ..... Idle At cold : 1100 rpms idle at hot : 1100rpms..... Temperature outside between 0Celcius and 15 C I check the High tention wires( No spark jumping ) and changed my spark plugs with silver bosch ones What is left to check : Idle Stabaliser valve Cap n Rotor DME Temperatue Sensor ? hi i have a question when DME Temperature Sensor Testing does the computer and the Sensor have to be disconected ? or just the sensor since im going to test it tomorrow morning ! my procedure would be to warm up the engine and disconnect the DME sensor just under the J pipe of the intake manifold and put my multimeter on OHM meter and check its resistance when the motor is warm and that would tell me if its in spec or now ! thnx matt -

All you need to do is disconnect the plug and test resistance across the two pins of the sensor. The sensor is pretty basic, just a thermal resistor. Car can be on or off, it does not make a difference really.
Clarks has a good write up on checking it. http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/elect-19.htm#dme-temp

One time I hit a big puddle of water with my car and water got into the distributor cap and the car kept running just fine but after I turned it off and tried to restart it, it wouldn't start. I took wd40 and sprayed the inside of the cap and the car ran perfectly. It's worth a try.

According to Clark's it's Between 3k3 and 1k5 cold and is about 300 ohms hot.

matty89 - my 944 is doing EXACTLY the same. Was it the DME temp sensor the problem? Could you let know how you solved the problem.
Thanks |
